A lovely Jaguar XJ13 standing right under the wing of a Boeing 747. The aviation background is to recall that the Jaguar XJ13 was inspired by aviation technology with its riveted alloy bodywork.

The Jaguar XJ13 is a racing car prototype developed by Jaguar in the mid-1960s to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Only one example was built. Equipped with the first V12 DOHC (double overhead camshaft) engine designed for racing and which gave rise to the famous single-shaft V12 engine that will provide the E Type Series 3, the XJ Series 1, 2 and 3 sedans and the X300 until 1997.

In 1971, BMW replaced the 2800 CS with the 3.0 CS equipped with a 3,000 cc engine with a 180 hp carburettor and the 3.0 CSL with 215 hp. It still has a 4-speed gearbox, but it gets power steering and especially 4 disc brakes which were cruelly lacking in the previous version. A few months later, the BMW 3.0 CSi with electronic fuel injection and 200 hp is added to the range. The CSL also gets this electronic fuel injection.

It was designed by Ferdinand Piëch and was not produced until 1966. She was a winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and 1967, Targa Florio, Suzuka, Avusrennen, etc ...
